Payment of accounts
Benson Radiology does prefer payment on the day if possible. This can be discussed with our staff on the day of your appointment.
Accounts may be paid by:

Speeding up your Medicare refund claim
Benson Radiology has Medicare Australia OnLine Claiming available at most branches. Where a patient settles their account in full on the day of examination and provides bank account details that are transmitted to Medicare (not recorded permanently), the Medicare rebate is paid into the patient's account within 3 working days. If a Medicare cheque is preferred the patient will receive this by mail in approximately 7-9 days.
Patients paying accounts on the day and not utilising Medicare online will be given a receipt to enable them to claim an “over the counter” cash rebate from Medicare Australia.
Hospital Inpatients
Benson Radiology has contract arrangements with a large number of private health funds which ensures a ‘no gap’ policy for in-hospital patients. Check with us or your health fund prior to being admitted to hospital.
Where a patient has imaging in a private hospital Accident and Emergency department prior to being admitted as an inpatient, normal out-patient fees apply.
The Medicare Safety Net
Medicare Australia offers a safety net system to assist patients paying large amounts towards medical accounts over and above the Medicare rebate – contact Medicare on their hotline number – 132 011 for more information.

Benson Radiology is a private radiology practice. Our fees are based on recommendations by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. We attempt to keep our gap payments to a minimum while maintaining the highest standards in imaging technology.
Gap Payments
The Medicare rebate will cover part of the fee charged for most examinations, providing criteria are met as laid down by Medicare Australia. If your examination does not attract a Medicare rebate our staff will inform you prior to your examination.
Some patients will be required to make a gap payment in addition to the Medicare rebate. This gap payment varies depending on the type of examination performed.
Gap payments are limited to a maximum of $150.00 per patient, per day, regardless of the number of procedures undertaken. Many gaps are less than this.
Pensioners and Healthcare Card Holders
Holders of Pension or Healthcare Cards valid for the examination date will be bulk-billed at all of our branches for all Medicare-rebateable examinations. If your examination does not attract a Medicare rebate and a fee is to be charged our staff will inform you prior to your examination.
